Model of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre

his item is a 3D digital model of a 17th century replica model of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The original model was carved by artisans in Bethlehem who were regularly employed by the Franciscan friars resident in the town to produce such models for sale to pilgrims as souvenirs. The model is carved mainly from olive wood and mother-of-pearl, but also contains elements of pistachio wood and ivory. The physical model is held today in the Museum of the Order of St. John in London.
